He will appear in the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court in the Free State tomorrow. The Hawks spokesperson, Lynda Steyn, says he is facing up to 40 charges. This after he was arrested last week for defrauding a law firm of more than R15 million. He made a brief appearance in court on the same day and he remained in custody.

Steyn says Ackerman allegedly transferred the money from the firm’s trust and investment account to several unknown beneficiaries. It is reported that when he was confronted, he could not account for the transactions he made. These incidents allegedly happened between January and June last year.
