IFP aims to increase footprint in FS─── LUCKY NKUYANE 18:00 Fri, 13 Mar 2020
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says it’s vying for seats in the Free State provincial legislature and municipal councils come 2021 and 2024 elections.
IFP president, Velenkosini Hlabisa, tells OFM News during a media briefing in Bloemfontein, the party is looking at strengthening its footprint in the province.
He says they are calling on other political parties to give the IFP an opportunity in the province.
So far the party has no constituency in the Free State. Hlabisa says his party forced its way through in Gauteng to be accepted.
He adds that in the Eastern Cape, only one political party has been accepted and they are still looking at ways to try and address the issues.
Hlabisa says one of the options is to engage with the local traditional leaders in the province.
The IFP is on a national tour and has so far visited Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
