#Coronavirus: FS Premier visits Pelonomi hospital─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:50 Tue, 17 Mar 2020
Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, and her Executive Council (Exco) on Monday paid a visit to Pelonomi Hospital's isolation facility to gauge its readiness in case of a Coronavirus outbreak in the province.
Accompanied by a number of MECs, including Health MEC Montsheng Tsiu and Social development MEC Mamiki Qabathe, Ntombela conducted a site inspection to assess the state of readiness regarding treatment and care.
She further emphasised and stressed the call by Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, for South Africans to regularly wash and sanitise their hands.
Her visit follows after President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday issued a travel ban to all foreign nationals from countries that were hard hit by the virus, including China, Italy and the United States of America (USA).
So far, the government has confirmed 62 cases of the Coronavirus across five provinces, with Gauteng leading with over 30 cases.
Ntombela further applauded the department of health for its efforts in ensuring health standards are met and that accessible facilities are in good condition, should there be a need.
She also requested communities across the province to remember the rule of keeping the necessary safe distance.
The province remains free of the virus at this stage.
