#Coronavirus: Mkhize says two have now recovered─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:16 Fri, 20 Mar 2020
The Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has announced that two people have so far recovered from the Novel Coronavirus pandemic and several others have been discharged.
Addressing the media at Bophelo House in Bloemfontein on Friday morning 20 March 2020 he also said there have not been any reported deaths and that no-one has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to the virus.
On Wednesday, the KwaZulu-Natal premier, Sihle Zikalala, confirmed during a media briefing that an individual who is the first person to test positive for the virus has recovered sufficiently enough to leave the hospital.
Gauteng Health spokesperson, Kwara Kekana, confirmed to OFM News that the woman who was the second person to test positive for the virus, was discharged a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, Mkhize during the briefing today announced that the number of infected people now stands at 202 and that the Free State recorded seven cases.
He says the first five cases in the Free State are visitors who were attending a local church gathering which 200 people attended. He did not say where in the Free State, or which church held this gathering. These international visitors came from Texas in the USA, Israel, and France. They developed symptoms later.
Mkhize says the other two who make up a total of seven people, include one person who returned from a trip to Italy. He adds that the last person is a health worker and a mother of two who has no history of travelling. He implied that she might have contracted it from her working environment. This mother has two kids at a local primary school in Brandwag. The two kids have been tested and he is expecting the results of the test at the latest on Saturday. They are in quarantine.
