Men block road with trucks─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:09 Sat, 21 Mar 2020
Twenty-seven men aged between nineteen and thirty-two years old were arrested for allegedly protesting in Hotazel near Kuruman in the Northern Cape yesterday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, says this group of men are reported to have forcefully taken the keys from truck drivers and proceeded on to prevent the free flow of traffic by blocking the road with the trucks and burning tires.
He says it is alleged that they were doing this because they wanted to meet with CEO’s from various mines in the area to discuss employment issues. All suspects will appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
They will be charged for contravention of the National Road Traffic Act.
