Passengers missing after collision in Bfn─── MARVIN NTSANE 15:38 Tue, 24 Mar 2020
A taxi and bakkie were involved in an accident on the corner of Harvey Road and Rhodes Street in Bloemfontein in the Free State today.
The police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the driver of the bakkie and two passengers were transported to the Pelonomi Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
He says the driver of the taxi did not report any injuries. The seven other passengers who were traveling in the taxi, however, were already gone when the police and the Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene.
Makhele says it is alleged that they went to the hospital after complaining of minor injuries, however, the police could not trace them.
"The police were informed of other passengers who apparently went to hospital but couldn't be found at any hospital in or around the city," he said.
A case of reckless and negligent driving is opened and will be investigated at the Park Road Police Station.
OFM News previously reported an accident claimed two lives and left nine injured on Friday. The spokesperson of Onelife 911, Laxerias Moshue, says a vehicle that was speeding collided with a taxi. The taxi was carrying eight passengers including six adults and three children. They were all transported to Bongani Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Moshue said the taxi driver went awol after the incident. A search for him was lodged, however, he was not found anywhere close to where the accident occurred.
