#SALockdown: FS commits to oversee smooth #Sassa payments─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:31 Mon, 30 Mar 2020
The Free State Provincial Government says they will ensure social grant beneficiaries receive their grants without hiccups today.
This, as the MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe, is expected to visit various Social Grant Paypoints to monitor compliance with the regulations of the lockdown.
Qabathe is amongst others expected to visit Limo Mall in the Mangaung region and the Post Office in Rocklands where there is usually large gatherings of beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has announced that they have relaxed public transport restrictions in order to accommodate grant beneficiaries over the next few days. He on Sunday highlighted that taxis and buses will be allowed to operate throughout the day this week to allow people to get to Sassa paypoints. This means their operating hours will be 5am until 8pm.
The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State has meanwhile confirmed that the province accepts and aligns itself with the decision to amend the Public Transport regulations in order to accommodate social grant beneficiaries.
