Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi, says the suspect was arrested in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Rustenburg earlier this week.

He says this brings the tally of arrested suspects to eight, adding that out of the eight, three were fatally wounded, whilst four are behind bars.

Mulaudzi says the incident occurred on 5 March. According to him, an armed gang in three vehicles allegedly shot and forced a CIT van off the road.

The van was then blown open. The suspects were, however, confronted by the Special Task Force team which included the Hawks and technical operations management services.

Malaudzi says a shoot-out ensued, killing a Detective Warrant Officer, Delene Grobelaar (44).
