#CoronavirusSA: NC cases reach 13─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:57 Thu, 09 Apr 2020
With 1845 cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed in South Africa, indicating 96 new cases of the virus across the country, 13 have now in total been recorded in the Northern Cape.
The number of cases in this province increases from 8 to 13 after 5 new confirmed cases were announced by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, on Wednesday night. As part of ongoing efforts to migrate the impact of the pandemic in the province, premier Zamani Saul says they plan to install 770 water tanks in informal settlements. The province has two confirmed cases which trace back to a Bloemfontein church gathering in the Free State where five international guests tested positive for the virus. So far there has not been any reported deaths in the province. Nationally the virus has killed as many as 18 people, according to Mkhize.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) and Mkhize sent their condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives due to Covid-19.
