The North West Education MEC, Mmaphefo Matsemela, says vandalism and burglaries at schools in the province are delaying the development progress.
This is after seven schools have been vandalised since the start of the lockdown.
The Bojanala and Kenneth Kaunda districts are the main affected areas. School property allegedly stolen, include school fences, television sets, surveillance cameras and groceries, among other property.
Matsemela says all the cases have been reported to the South African Police Services. She urges communities to be vigilant and report any illegal activity taking place at schools.
