The number of people who recovered from the Coronavirus in the North West has increased from 3 to 10, with 22 people so far being infected.
Health MEC Madoda Sambatha says seven people who recovered are in the Bojanala District, two in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District and one in Ngaka Modiri Molema District. At least 164 people have been tested for the Covid-19 and one person is said to be in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, premier Job Mokgoro and a team of MECs are today meeting to assess the work and progress made in the implementation of the Provincial Response Plan to COVID-19 in the last three weeks. On Monday, Sambatha announced that one of the infected individuals in the province is a specialist doctor in Klerksdorp who allegedly came into contact with 44 employees and 56 patients.
Of the 164 tests conducted, 94 turned out negative, 41 are still pending and no death has been reported. Sambatha also said that 44 employees at three different private hospitals in Klerksdorp will be placed under self-quarantine. Meanwhile, 27 people have died from the virus and the number of infections stands at 2 272 confirmed cases. There have also been 88 663 tests conducted across the country.
