#CoronavirusSA: NW mass screening continues | News Article

The North West Premier, Job Mokgoro, will today oversee a mass screening for the coronavirus that has so far infected 24 people in the province.

Mokgoro is expected to visit Danville in Mahikeng, which recorded 2 cases of Covid-19. The provincial mass screening, testing and contact tracing programme enters its third week in the province.

The majority of those infected in the province is situated in the Bojanala District, which includes Rustenburg, as 16 Covid-19 cases were recorded in the area.

The provincial Health Department says 489 tests have been conducted and 390 turned out negative. It further says 70 test results are pending and only one person was hospitalised due to Covid-19.

Mokgoro has urged residents to go to the various screening sites for voluntary screening for the remainder of the lockdown period.

He will be accompanied by members of the Provincial Command Council, which is a team of MEC's. The program is set to kick start at 11:00 am at Danville Community Clinic in Mahikeng.
