The case against a 17-year old girl accused of murdering the 20-year old, Marvin Mafubetsoane, was postponed to June 29 today in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court in the Free State.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, says she has been released into the care of a legal guardian following a preliminary inquiry. He further says the case was postponed to allow the accused time to a find legal representation and for further investigations.
This follows after she was arrested for stabbing Mafubetsoane to death in Kutloanong near Welkom over the weekend. Provincial police spokesperson, Motantshi Makhele, told OFM News she was apparently engaged in an argument at the time with Mafubetsoane, after accusing him of having an affair. Makhele says she allegedly stabbed him with a knife on the left hand side of his chest. The knife was found on the scene.
Meanwhile, Education MEC in the Free State, Tate Makgoe, has sent condolences to the family of Mafubetsoane. He says there are no words to describe the sadness over the loss of Mafubetsoane, whom he explained was a disciplined and quite leaner. Makgoe further urged learners to use the current Covid-19 lockdown period to study under their parents’ supervision, and not to use it as a holiday. Mafubetsoane was a learner at Hoërskool Riebeeckstad. A #justiceformarvin movement has been launched on social media platforms.
