Husband and wife arrested for lockdown contravention─── MARVIN NTSANE 16:51 Mon, 20 Apr 2020
The department of police, roads and traffic in the Free State has appealed to the community to stay at home and obey the national lockdown regulations to curb the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
This follows after a 43-year old man and his 42-year old wife were arrested in Henneman for contravention of lockdown regulations over the weekend. Provincial department spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, says the couple were transporting liquor in their Toyota Quantum. She adds the vehicle's licence disc had been expired since 2018. Mophethe says the vehicle was impounded, and that the couple will remain in police custody until their first court appearance. Mophethe says it seems that there are people who are still not taking the lockdown regulations seriously. She further urges residents who want to bury their loved to request permission from their nearest police station.
