Wife of ANC councillor to appear before court─── 12:54 Tue, 21 Apr 2020
Police in Morokweng in the North West have arrested the wife of an ANC councillor – who was also arrested earlier - in Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality for possession of alleged stolen goods.
The wife of Thapelo Loabile was arrested when police found suspected stolen goods at their home.
These include cutlery, a television set, a fridge, furniture and other utensils.
The Councillor was also arrested a week ago at his home for reportedly contravening the national lockdown regulations.
The ANC Women's League in the North West applauded police for the swift action resulting in this arrest. Acting secretary, Bitsa Lenkopane, says "Councillor Loabile is married in community of property, and whatever is acquired for their household, the League believes is done through input from both husband and wife. As such, he too should have been taken into police custody."
Police spokesperson, Colonel Adele Myburgh, confirmed to OFM News that a 46 -year-old woman has been arrested by Morokweng police for possession of suspected stolen goods found at her home. Myburgh adds that three other men aged between 18 and 20 years were also arrested for housebreaking.
Myburgh said the arrested suspects will appear before the Ganyesa magistrate’s court tomorrow.
