This follows after the trio were arrested last week Friday, after being found in possession of a truck, a trailer, a van and suspected stolen diesel with a combined value of R2.4 million.

It is alleged the stolen goods belong to Transnet. Hawks Spokesperson, Lynda Steyn, in a statement says on the day the suspects were arrested, an employee of Transnet was earlier sent to Verkykerskop to investigate possible tampering with a valve.

Upon his arrival he established that the block cover was damaged, and there was plenty of diesel spillage at the scene. She says the employee then went to the local Verkykerskop police to report the matter.

"Later in the day the SAPS stopped a truck which was being escorted by a bakkie. Whilst questioning the occupants of the truck, the driver of the bakkie approached the SAPS members and attempted to bribe them. They were arrested and detained on the spot" says Steyn.

Steyn confirms the goods have since been seized, and investigations continue.
