SANAC on ARVs amidst #Covid19 pandemic | News Article

The South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), led by Deputy President David Mabuza, has reiterated the importance of HIV treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This, as the number of coronavirus cases has increased to 4996.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize last night announced that the total number of deaths in the country increased by three, with the death toll now at 93. SANAC says although the lockdown has helped the country to reduce the spread of the virus, it remains crucial that those with underlying health issues continue to take their medication in order to maintain a stronger immune system to withstand a potential coronavirus infection. Mkhize announced that the number of Covid-19 cases in the Western Cape now stands at 1870, followed by Gauteng at 1377, KwaZulu-Natal at 919, the Eastern Cape at 616 and the Free State at 113.

SANAC has further urged all South Africans to adhere to the regulations of the lockdown and reminded those who were visiting their families in another city before lockdown, that they can access their anti-retroviral (ARVs) treatment from any public healthcare facility.
