This, as the province recorded 31 positive cases, 16 recoveries and zero fatalities. The MEC for Health in the province, Madoda Sambatha, yesterday led the Covid-19 screening, testing and contact tracing programme in Matlosana, which includes Klerksdorp. 

So far, over half a million people have been screened in the province, more than 530 tests have been conducted with over 50 pending cases.

OFM News previously reported that 13 of the 217 Cuban doctors deployed to assist South Africa in its battle against the virus have been assigned to the province. Earlier, the department announced that this number includes eight family physicians, three health technology specialists, one epidemiologist and one biostatistician. 

Meanwhile, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Thursday announced that there are 5 647 confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported in the country and the death toll remains at 103.
