#Covid19 constituency strategy to be launched in NW─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:17 Fri, 01 May 2020
As part of ongoing efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus in the North West, premier Job Mokgoro and deputy health minister, Joe Phaahla, are set to launch the provinces' Covid-19 Progress and Community Constituency Strategy today.
This, as the Department of Health in the province has continued to roll out its Covid-19 screening, testing and contact tracing programme, with over half a million people screened so far.
Mokgoro and Phaahla are also expected to be joined by the MEC for Health, Madoda Sambatha, and other members of the Provincial Command Council. The screening and testing programme will also be used to observe Worker's Day on Friday, 1 May.
The department on Thursday said at least 4 out of 13 active cases of the novel coronavirus have been hospitalised. This as the province reported 16 recoveries and zero deaths.
Sambatha, on Thursday, led the Covid-19 screening, testing and contact tracing programme in Matlosana, which include Klerksdorp.
The programme will be launched at the Lutheran Church in Tlhabane near Rustenburg, where the majority of the Covid-19 cases in the province were recorded. The town has recorded 15 cases and 7 recoveries.
OFM News previously reported that 13 of the 217 Cuban doctors who were deployed to South Africa to help fight the virus have been assigned to the province.
