#CoronavirusSA: 11 Cuban doctors deployed to NC─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:00 Fri, 01 May 2020
The Northern Cape Health Department says 11 of the 217 Cuban doctors deployed to South Africa will be allocated to the province to help fight the coronavirus battle.
So far the province recorded 17 positive cases and 13 recoveries.
MEC for Health in the province, Mase Manopole, says 1 266 tests have been conducted while nearly half a million people have been screened across 5 districts in the province.
She urged residents to cooperate with healthcare workers and officials conducting screening, testing and contact tracing.
Manopole says this is to contain and stem the spread of Covid-19 in the province.
The Frances Baard District had 11 patients, all of whom have recovered from the virus. Two more recoveries were recorded in the Pixley Ka Seme and ZF Mqcawu districts respectively. The provincial department spokesperson, Lebohang Majaha, earlier said that over 895 swab samples of suspected coronavirus have been to the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) for testing.
