Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, on Friday confirmed that the said case has been opened for investigation following allegations that the councillor was in a relationship with an underage girl.

The councillor in question resides in Tigane near Hartbeesfontein, a few kilometres outside of Klerksdorp.

Mokgowabone says this councillor - whose name is known to OFM News - has not yet been arrested at this stage, and the investigation into the matter continues.

Meanwhile, the charges followed after the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the region opened a case at the local police station after the 15-year-old in question became pregnant.
