One man died, twelve injured in N12 accidents─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:49 Fri, 08 May 2020
The Emergency Services ER24 says twelve people, including the driver of a minibus taxi, were left injured on Friday morning 8 May following a collision on the N12 between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom in the North West.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says a light motor vehicle and the taxi collided and left the driver of the taxi in a critical condition. He says upon arrival, paramedics found the taxi parked in the middle of the road and several people were found scattered around the scene. He adds that eleven other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated for their injuries before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Meiring says advanced life support intervention had to be used to assist the driver.
Meanwhile, Meiring reported that a man, believed to be in his thirties, died on Friday morning after he was hit by a bakkie on the N12, 21km outside Potchefstroom. He said the man's body was found lying in the middle of the road at around 07h11 and the bakkie that had struck the man was found parked a short distance away.
"Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead. The driver of the bakkie escaped injury. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations," he added.
