FS urged to seek God amidst #Coronavirus pandemic─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 13:53 Mon, 11 May 2020
The Free State representatives of Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng’s 50-day ‘healing the nation campaign’ urge people in the province to place their faith in God amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Prophet Elisée Yao from the Divine Restoration Ministries in Bloemfontein says the ‘healing the nation campaign’, which kicked off on 12 April 2020, serves as a reminder to South Africans that God still has a future planned for the country and the continent at large.
The goal of the campaign, which comes to an end on 31 May, is to offer healing, hope and restoration to those on the continent as the world battles the deadly Coronavirus which has recorded over 2,4 million active cases worldwide, with 284 000 deaths, and brought booming economies to a grounding halt.
The African continent, with its ailing healthcare systems, has been relatively spared from the pandemic to the surprise of many, but has been hard hit economically. Yao explains the campaign seeks not only to restore the churches, but also education, politics and the economies of countries on the continent.
“Restoration means returning something to its original form,” says Yao. The Bloemfontein church leader is originally from the Ivory Coast in West Africa and has been living in the country for 17 years. He says when he first arrived in the country, more than a decade ago, “R1 was equal to 70 West African CFA franc, today, R1 is equal to 33 West African franc. It means somewhere, somehow we have lost something,” says Yao.
South Africans who would like to participate in the campaign, can visit the website: www.healingthenation.co.za and join in. The Free State contact is Rebecca Cantor and Yao says she can be contacted on 083-457-8438 for any queries. Once one has joined, they will receive daily scripture readings around which they will pray or meditate.
The Divine Restoration Ministries notably hosted the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast in mid-March which was attended by five internationals that were amongst the Free State’s first confirmed coronavirus patients. The guests from Israel, the United States of America and France all tested positive for Covid-19 on the back of a two-day church gathering attended by hundreds of guests including members of parliament and leaders of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), Reverend Kenneth Meshoe and Steve Swartz, as well as Evangelist Angus Buchan.
They also later tested positive for Covid-19. Yao, who confirms that he also tested positive for the coronavirus, tells the public that contracting the virus isn’t necessarily a death sentence, it’s, in fact, a sickness, like any other and can be overcome with faith and prayer.
