Burglaries at FS school could be for food─── CATHY DLODLO 15:53 Mon, 11 May 2020
The majority of cases reported at empty school buildings in the Free State, where burglaries took place, seem to be involving criminals in search for food.
The chairperson of the Portfolio Committee for Public Accounts in the Free State Legislature, Vusimusi Tshabalala, says the provincial Education Department found that in many cases burglars are in search of food.
OFM News earlier reported that a total of 16 schools in the province were broken into or vandalised.
Tshabalala says the department appeared before the committee during a virtual meeting to table its plan of action for when the national lockdown ends, which was ordered to fight the spread of Covid19.
