#Covid19 pandemic: More FS departments to appear─── CATHY DLODLO 16:41 Mon, 11 May 2020
Two key departments in the Free State Government’s fight against the spread of the coronavirus are expected to appear before the Free State Legislature to talk about their spending and operational plans.
The provincial Health Department and the Department of Social Development are next on the list of appearances during a virtual meeting with the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Public Accounts.
Committee Chairperson, Vusimusi Tshabalala, says the departments will be probed about their spending and on what they spent millions as part of its contribution to the provincial fight against Covid-19.
Provincial Treasury was the first department to appear.
Finance MEC Gadija Brown indicated that since the health department was at the centre of the fight, it was the biggest spender so far.
The provincial government spent R45m so far and has total commitments of about R90m.
