#CoronavirusNW cases hit 50 mark─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:50 Tue, 12 May 2020
The confirmed number of infections in the North West has hit the fifty mark, as five more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
In reality the province, however, only has 26 active cases, following the recovery of 23 people and the first-ever death of a patient in the province yesterday.
The Bojanala District Municipality, which includes Rustenburg, remains the epicentre of the virus in the province - with over thirty Covid-19 cases.
Meanwhile, MEC Madoda Sambatha cautioned residents in the province to avoid being deceived by the low numbers in the Province. Sambatha says the province is now experiencing cluster infections as a result of funerals and overcrowding at shopping centres.
He also joined field workers in Taung in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District for a Covid-19 mass screening and testing.
He adds that the district is the only one in the province with a 100% recovery rate. This, after a 21-year-old woman from Bloemhof, who became infected while attending a church gathering at the Divine RestorationMinistries in March in Bloemfontein recovered.
