#CoronavirusFS: Bloem Water confirms case, closes offices | News Article

The Free State's Bloem Water has temporarily closed its two offices as it confirms a positive case of coronavirus at its Orange River Regional Office in Bethulie near Trompsburg in the Kopanong Local Municipality.

The company's spokesperson, Kido Thoabala, tells OFM News that the Department of Health has been informed and responded promptly, providing the necessary assistance, support and testing. She says all the necessary procedures are being followed as prescribed by the government's regulations and guidelines, which include the deep cleaning and disinfection of these two closed offices. Thoabala adds that other contacts are being traced and testing is being continued. The affected parties are already in isolation and are receiving the necessary attention.

"The water treatment works were not exposed, the plants will continue to render uninterrupted water supply.  The entity acted swiftly in responding to the incident and all is under control. The entity continues to supply water in this and other regions," she adds.

She further says the company's employees are urged to continue observing social distancing, wear face masks at all times and wash their hands with soap or use hand sanitisers regularly, as provided at all workplaces. "By observing protocols and hygiene practices, we will be able to beat the pandemic together," she continues

So far, the province has about 31 active cases after 108 people from a total of 145 confirmed cases recovered and 6 deaths were reported.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize last night announced that a total number of 12 739 people have been confirmed positive for the virus while 5 676 have recovered and 238 deaths have been reported. This means that only 6 825 cases are active across the country at this stage.
