This followes complaints by the Public Servants Association of South Africa (PSA) that the department is allegedly not adhering to national lockdown regulations. 

The department’s spokesperson, Kebalepile Khula, says these allegations are baseless and all occupational health and safety protocols are being followed. He says the offices are not open to the public and only essential workers with permits are allowed to work. 

Khula says the department is finalising the return to work plan. He adds that the planning includes installing the partitions to promote social distancing, deep cleaning of offices, disinfection and cleaning of fabric office furniture.
