Sale and invasion of FS land ‘illegal’ | News Article

The sale and invasion of a specific portion of land in the Eastern Free State is illegal.

The Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality, which includes Phuthaditjhaba, warns residents allegedly involved in the illegal sale and invasion of land in Bluegumbosch area that there will be consequences.

The municipal spokesperson, Kedibone Sentle, tells OFM News that the municipality was made aware of such activity in the area, and says legal steps are afoot to see to it that those involved are held liable. Sentle warns those involved, emphasising that the buying of such land is illegal and legal action can be taken against individuals found on the wrong side of the law.

Sentle says: "Any community member who is found to engage in any construction of any kind without the municipal approval will have their goods confiscated and or will be arrested."

She adds that the municipality urges the residents to await an announcement on the sale of serviced sites - as demanded by law. She also urges residents to refrain from illegal sales of sites, and that anyone interested in buying land should consult the municipality first.
