So far 73 are negative while 28 are still pending and 34 results are yet to be collected. This is according to the North West Health Department spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane. He says the 28 staff members are in self-quarantine.

The department earlier began a process of tracing about 260 of his contacts which included 14 doctors, 195 patients, 22 staff members and 29 nurses at three medical facilities, which included his own private facility and the Victoria Private Hospital. So far the North West has 43 active cases after 28 recoveries and 1 death from the 72 reported Covid-19 cases.

Lekgethwane further says that there has been no new case recorded in the Bojanala PlatinDistrictict, which includes Rustenburg, in the past five-day cycle of testing. He adds that the district contributes 56% to the provincial burden of the disease.

"The total number of screenings in the province increased to 2 161 223 and 2055 people screened showed covid-19 symptoms and they were referred for testing while a total of 999 contacts of the 72 confirmed cases in the province were identified and 94% (934) were successfully traced.

Ten contacts tested positive for Covid-19 and are included in the 72 confirmed cases in the province and a total of 466 of the 999 contacts have completed the 14-day monitoring period," he adds.

A total of 28 Covid-19 patients in the province have so far recovered - 20 recoveries were recorded in Bojanala, 5 in Dr Kenneth Kaunda, which include Potchefestoom, 2 in Ngaka Modiri Molema, which include Mahikeng, and 1 in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, which include Vryburg.
