The department's spokesperson, Geoffrey Vd Merwe, says Jack will be visiting the Frances Baard District, which includes Kimberley. This will be followed by a media briefing to inform the public and allay possible general fear about the progress made.

The media briefing expected to be held Monday, May 25, has been postponed. Van der Merwe says the department is working around the clock to put in place the necessary systems and measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus at schools.

He adds the health and safety of educators, learners and staff is a first priority to the department.
