Suspected thieves expected in NC court─── MARVIN NTSANE 11:11 Wed, 27 May 2020
Two men aged 46 and 49 years old are expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate's Court in the Northern Cape today for the possession of stolen property.
The provincial police spokesperson, Mashay Gamieldien, says the police acted on a tip-off and stopped and searched a vehicle that was heading in the direction of Kuruman.
She says the police found copper cables in the boot, estimated to be worth R90 000. She adds that further investigations found a generator at one of the suspects' residences, suspected to have been stolen during a recent house robbery in Wrenchville.
Gamieldien further says the two might be linked to burglaries that occurred at a local Kuruman mine earlier this month, where items stolen amounted to R193 000.
The John Taolo Gaetsewe Cluster Commander, Johan Bean, urges the community to continue to report and reject stolen goods. He also commends the police for their perseverance and commitment by stamping down the authority of the state.
