Eskom confirms power failure in Parys─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:17 Wed, 27 May 2020
Eskom assures residents of Parys in the Free State that they will have power restored by Thursday afternoon.
This, after a transformer fault at the Parys Rural Substation resulted in fire in the town's substation control room. The power utility's spokesperson in the province, Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg says the incident happened last night and confirms they managed to contain the fire. She, however, says power supply to Parys has since been lost due to the damage caused to the control room. Van Rensburg says they anticipate repairs will take approximately 24 hours to be completed.
"Eskom apologises for the inconvenience and urges customers to remain patient and to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous at all times," she added.
