Major water project launched in FS─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:52 Thu, 28 May 2020
The Moqhaka Local Municipality in the Free State has launched one of its biggest water and sewer reticulation projects in Maokeng, Kroonstad.
The R9.8 million project, that was launched by Executive Mayor Lucky Phooko on Thursday, is expected to help communities with the water and sewage challenges they have been faced with for several years.
Phooko tells OFM News over 50 job opportunities for locals are expected to be created through this project and four subcontractors appointed.
He adds 258 residents will be allocated residential sites through this project, and expectations are that it will be completed by November.
"The project will create opportunities for small business entrepreneurs. So, we are happy in terms of our local economic development, job creation and poverty alleviation," said Phooko.
