FS police mum on murder of young Parys man | News Article

The Free State police remain tight-lipped on the murder of a 20-year-old Parys man, as repeated calls for justice intensify.

While details remain unclear at this stage, it is reported the 20-year old Vuyisile Zina from Tumahole township in Parys was stabbed and killed in front of his home exactly a week ago by local gang members.

Residents allege the incident happened in full view of law enforcement and nothing was done. Police are yet to comment on the incident and allegations leveled against law enforcement by community members. A petition calling for justice for Zina’s murder on change.org has been initiated, with over 400 people having signed it.

Meanwhile Grace Radio SA reports Zina was buried in his hometown on Saturday with pictures of police present at the funeral service. It is yet to be confirmed if any arrests have been made.

In the last three months young men in their 20s have been killed, to enraging local community members. The earlier murders centre around lovers' quarrels. In the first murder 22-year-old Vuyo Mbena was allegedly stabbed to death by his 20-year-old girlfriend Karabo Molotsi in Bloemfontein in early March.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in the FS, Phaladi Shuping, told OFM News the matter had been struck off the roll and the docket was returned to police for further investigations. In the second incident a 29-year-old Welkom man was allegedly stabbed to death by his high school girlfriend.
