Two men have been arrested for theft of R10 million worth of aluminium cables belonging to the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) near Potchefstroom in North West.
Provincial police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says police reacted on information received from PRASA about suspected illegal activities at a scrapyard in Mamaku village.
He says upon arrival at the scrapyard, the aluminium cables were found loaded on a bakkie.
He adds that further investigations led to a discovery of more aluminium cables inside the building.
He says the Provincial Commissioner, Sello Kwena, commends the police and security services, and also urges the community to report criminal actions.
