An 8-month-old girl was among seven people injured yesterday in a multiple-vehicle collision on the N12 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp in the North West.
The private medical emergency services ER24 says four vehicles collided approximately 15km outside of Potchefstroom.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, adds the baby girl and five others suffered minor to moderate injuries while two people sustained serious injuries during this collision.
He says paramedics and Provincial Fire and Rescue Services, among others, found the four vehicles scattered along the road with the injured walking around on the scene.
Meiring further adds it is believed that smoke from a nearby veld-fire played a contributing factor in the cause of the collision.
"The patients were treated for their injuries, and the two seriously injured were provided with pain-relief medication, before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations," Meiring adds.
