#CoronavirusFS: Hospital scraps visiting hours after Covid-19 case | News Article

A reported positive Coronavirus case has forced a Free State Hospital in Phutaditjhaba in Qwaqwa to cancel its visiting hours with immediate effect.

The department of Health in the province confirmed that Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital has cancelled it's visit hours until further notice.

Departmental spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says the case was reported on Thursday and those who were in contact with the individual have been screened and sent for isolation.

He says the suspected contacts linked to the positive individual are being traced by a local tracing team which is working tirelessly to trace them.

Mvambi adds that management takes the safety and well being of all staff, patients and visitors in the highest regard.

He further adds that stakeholders will continuously be consulted to ensure that all who enter the hospital are safe.

Mvambi says "further details will be communicated during the course of the day and in the coming days following further management consultations. Let's be safe, practice hand hygiene as well as social distancing".

He has further urged residents to adhere to the request of not visiting the hospital and only come to the hospital when in need of essential health care services as the hospital is not closed.

So far the province has about 204 active cases after 123 recoveries, 9 deaths recorded from 336 reported cases.
