The Free State police have made an appeal to Bronville residents in Welkom to assist in the hunt for a motorist who fatally ran down a two-year-old child on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says anyone who may have seen a suspicious-looking white Toyota Fortuner should come forward with information.
According to available information a two-year-old child was reportedly playing with his miniature wire car in the street when he was hit by a speeding motor vehicle which then fled the scene.
Makhele adds that members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) and emergency services (EMS) were summoned to the scene, where the child was declared dead.
Makhele adds that anyone with information can contact Capt. Steyn from the Bronville SAPS Detective Services on 082 301 2821.
