This, as today marked the first day of school for the Grade 7 and 12 learners across the country. During a media briefing held by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga on Sunday, it was revealed that the majority of schools in the country were ready to re-open with 1 123 of them being in the Free State. OFM News' Katleho Morapela reports from the Unity Primary School in Mangaung that teaching and learning is indeed underway at the school.

Whilst the province awaits a comprehensive report from the provincial department, Makgoe has meanwhile taken to Twitter to confirm the provision of water tankers across schools in the province and that a number of them reopened without much hiccups.

He is expected to paint a clear picture regarding the reopening of schools in all districts at 10 am on Tuesday at the Tsoseletso High School.
