#CoronavirusFS: Small town residents denied movement─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:26 Fri, 12 Jun 2020
Movement of residents of Bethulie in the Free State are being restricted by local police, says the Kopanong Local Municipality manager, Martin Kubeka.
He told OFM News' that police have put roadblocks at exits of this area, allegedly because of the increasing figures of positive Covid-19 cases in this district. He says the police are creating a stigmatisation of these residents.
He further says it denies residents' access to essential services as the town is very small and the residents depend on neighbouring towns for sufficient essential services. Kubeka says that the police are not acting in compliance with the coronavirus lockdown level 3 regulations that are currently in place.
OFM News sent questions to the national police spokesperson, Vishnu Naidoo, for comment.
