Search for missing FS woman intensified─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:11 Fri, 12 Jun 2020
The search for a 22-year-old Free State woman who has been missing for almost a week now has been beefed up with the police now being roped in to trace her whereabouts.
Sipamandla Luwaca's disappearance comes as the killing of women in South Africa is once again in the spotlight.
According to the police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, information furnished to the police indicates that the 22-year-old left her residential place in Universitas, Bloemfontein, on Monday afternoon. According to a report filed at Park Road Police Station on Thursday, Luwaca allegedly informed her sister that she was visiting a friend in Brandwag, Bloemfontein, to work on an assignment. She has never been seen or heard from again. Makhele has further urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the police to trace Luwaca. She is said to be tall and slim in stature, brown-coffee in complexion with black hair and brown eyes.
"When (Luwaca) left their place of residence, she was wearing navy pants with white stripes, a navy t-shirt, blue jean jacket and black/pink sneakers. It is also alleged that she was carrying a laptop in its bag," he adds.
Makhele says Luwaca's sister called to call her on Monday evening but her cell phone was off.
"Any member of the community who might have seen Sipamandla or carry the knowledge of where she might be found is requested to call Constable Setjhaba Patrick Sikisi at Park Road at 078 2460 053 or 051 503 2700," he further adds.
The disappearance of Luwaca has been a cause of concern to many social media users, including on Facebook and Twitter, amongst other platforms.
On Thursday, mourners at the funeral of slain Tshegofatso Pule in Meadowlands, Soweto, in Gauteng bid farewell in an emotional funeral service. According to reports, the 28-year-old, who was eight months pregnant, was found hanging from a tree in Durban Deep, in Roodepoort. The reports further say her boyfriend was the last person to see her alive and police said he had been questioned, but not arrested.
