The SAPS' Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in the Free State is appealing to communities in the province to do more to safeguard children during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown period.
The Unit’s Colonel Thembi Lebitsa tells OFM News’ Katleho Morapela that the number of child abuse cases has increased in the province despite the country being in a lockdown. This is coupled with cases of domestic violence. Lebitsa says something has to be done urgently to stop the cycle of abuse, violence, neglect and the exploitation of children.
