#YouthMonth: FS youth urged to ‘take charge’ | News Article

As the country nears June 16 with South Africans continuing to commemorate Youth Month, young people in the Free State are urged to make use of opportunities they are afforded.

This is according to 31-year-old Chief Engineer within the Provincial Water and Sanitation Department, Obakeng Moatshe, who challenges the youth in the province to be courageous and fearless in the pursuit of their dreams.

The 31-year-old, who manages the operation and maintenance of 27 dams in the Free State and Northern Cape, says the youth of today is not only faced with the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment but now also have to find new ways of building a future and contributing to the country’s economy amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview with OFM News, Moatshe encourages the youth to pursue their studies, make use of every opportunity and take charge of their future. He further reminds communities in Central South Africa about the scarcity of water and the importance of using it sparingly as the country battles the spread of the coronavirus.
