#CoronavirusFS: Matjhabeng experiences a loss─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:36 Sun, 14 Jun 2020
The Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the Free State has lost one of its longest-serving legal advisors to Covid-19.
The municipality, which includes the city of Welkom and towns such as Virginia and Ventersburg, amongst others, confirms Barry Golele passed away Friday morning in Johannesburg.
Golele is described by many as a man who was dedicated and committed to serving his community.
Acting Executive Mayor, Sipho Manese, has described him as a loyal official who served Matjhabeng wholeheartedly. He says they are deeply saddened by the passing of Golele and that it leaves a huge void within their legal department.
Acting Municipal Manager, Zingisa Tindleni, has in a statement also added that “Golele's legal prowess, experience and expertise will be solely missed by the municipality”.
Whilst details of his burial are yet to be communicated, his former colleagues and social media users have taken to Facebook to pass on their condolences to his family and friends.
