This is according to the Select Committee on  Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. 

Following a report presented by the provincial department indicating how financial mismanagement, high vacancy rates and alleged political interference in administration is a concern. 

The Committee says more needs to be done to improve the situation in this municipality and many others in the province. 

The municipality alongside Maluti-A-Phofung and Mangaung Metro last week had to account for their financial woes before the committee. 

The report regarding Section 139 (1)(b) intervention, presented on Friday, 12 June, further indicates how the coalition led municipality still battles with governance, finance and service delivery. It is stated that the municipality is not only riddled with these challenges, but its council has during the 2019/2020 financial year dismally "failed to meet and conclude its business thus implicating failure to execute its executive obligations".
