The police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says a couple, Marion Chongo (51) and Joyce Duma (38), were allegedly shot in their heads and died on the scene at their house in Rheederspark on Sunday night 14 June 2020.

Makhele says it is alleged that the couple was hosting four men who are Lesotho nationals. He says an argument which led to the shooting allegedly ensued when Chongo instructed them to leave as it was becoming late.

Makhele says after the shooting, the suspects allegedly attempted to rape the deceased's daughter but failed. He says they then proceeded to a neighbour who also attended the gathering. Makhele says she was allegedly dragged to the bushes and raped by seven men who later released her. A case of murder, kidnapping and attempted rape is being investigated and the police request anyone who has information that will lead to the arrest to come forward.
