Qwaqwa residents tired of electricity issues─── 13:00 Sun, 21 Jun 2020

Qwaqwa residents in the Free State say they have had enough of electricity issues.
Residents say the Maluti-A-Phofung municipality is failing to supply them with basic service delivery such as electricity.
Some of the residents say they've had to get rid of food in their refrigerators due to having less than three hours of electricity supply a day.
Furthermore, residents say the municipality has failed to provide them with a schedule consisting of the date and times the electricity will be cut off.
Speaking to OFM News about this matter, the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Thembeni Nxangisa, revealed that the municipality has old infrastructure due to deferred maintenance for a number of years as well as uncounted load growth.
He adds that as a result, seven electricity substations in the municipality is overloading.
