The municipal spokesperson, Willie Maphosa, says the municipality’s main Dan Tloome Building was closed on Monday and will remain closed until Friday. The building is expected to be shut for at least a period of four days while it is being disinfected.

Despite the confirmation of the positive case at the building, Maphosa says essential services will still be provided as other municipal facilities are not affected by this.

OFM News previously reported that the Witrand Hospital in Potchefstroom raised concerns after 100 patients and staff members, including nurses, tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Also, a clinic in Promosa in the area was shut down recently after two female nurses, aged 52 and 41, tested positive for Covid-19. A school in the area was forced to shut its gates after its 56-year-old principal tested positive for the novel coronavirus recently.

Meanwhile, Maphosa says we regret the inconvenience caused and assures the public that everything is under control.

“There is no need to panic. This action is taken to protect and secure the safety of all our clients and the public,” he adds.
