Suspected dagga farmers out on bail─── ELSABÉ RICHARD 14:53 Fri, 26 Jun 2020
The case against two suspected dagga farmers has been postponed in the Christiana Magistrate's Court.
According to police spokesperson, Katlego Mogale, the duo, aged 24 and 26, was released on R2 000 bail each today and is expected to appear in court on August 20.
The suspects face charges of illegal possession of dagga with intent to distribute and cultivating dagga on a farm in the Boshof area in Free State. Mogale says upon visiting the farm, members of the Hawks discovered that dagga was planted in a field with controlled growing processes.
She explains that the first suspect was arrested after several purchases were conducted by the members of the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit in the North West. Further investigations resulted in the second suspect being arrested.
Investigations continue.
